JOHN WILLIAM HOFFMAN
John Hoffman was born in 1964 in Boise,
Idaho and was raised in Atlanta, GA. John graduated
from High School in 1982 and immediately joined the
Navy. After joining the military John learned about
the SEAL teams and soon decided that’s what he
wanted to do and completed Basic Underwater Demolition/
SEAL training a year later in class 123. Upon graduation
and completion of jump school John was assigned to UDT
11 and several months later SEAL Team Five where he
completed two overseas deployments to Southeast Asia.
Returning from his second deployment John was selected
to go to SEAL Team Six in January 1986 in Virginia where
he remained for twelve years. While at that command
John attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer while
participating in conflicts around the world. In 1998
John transferred back to the West Coast to assume the
position Senior Enlisted leadership of the US Navy Parachute
Team, The Leap Frogs This 12 man team travels the nation
performing for over 4 million people annually. John
was soon selected for the rank of Senior Chief Petty
Officer and returned to Naval Special Warfare Center
also known as Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL Training,
this time as the Senior Enlisted Instructor in charge
of the First Phase of training which includes the infamous
“Hellweek”. It was at this command that
John Hoffman became a Master Chief, the highest enlisted
rank attainable in the US Navy. John retired in April
2005 and is now the Director of Force Skydiving Team
for Force Ministries. John currently resides in Coronado,
CA.
